A tree in our project in Zambia binds an average of around 6 kg of CO2 per year. The full capacity is achieved over the lifetime of the tree, whereby a tree can offset up to half a ton of CO2 over the course of its life. The exact time varies depending on the tree species and growing conditions. However, we clearly advocate speaking of 6 kg per year – anything else would be a credit against the future and, in our opinion, misleading.
